*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 105964 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105964
I'd like to corroborate this bug. It manifests itself on my setup (Gutsy
current) which is a Thinkpad T61p laptop with the following network
devices :
1. Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection
(rev 03)
2. Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network
Connection (rev 61)
While the ethernet controller has been detected by the system and the e1000
module loaded, even though ifconfig acknowledges the presence of the
controller, nm-applet doesn't show it.
On the other hand, nm-applet seems to work well with the wireless network
controller - all wireless networks are shown and events in that respect occur
just fine.
Toggling the nm-applet 'Enable Networking', 'Enable wireless' options
doesn't help - I vaguely recall that in previous versions, if eth0
wasn't detected, it was possible to toggle these switches and magically
nm-applet would work fine therafter.
