Can you give a bit more details on what your environment is (you can use
apport-collect 1565973).
Is unity8 even running? It sounds like you never get past the greeter -
in which case logs from /var/log/lightdm might be helpful (clear it
before you try logging in to the unity8 session).
If unity8 is running - see, when it hangs, if you can Ctrl+Alt+F1 to a
console, and/or reach it from the network (ssh).
You could also try:
$ apport-bug --hanging `pidof unity8`
