Public bug reported:
I suspect this isn't specifically related to meld, but that's where I've
noticed it, so I'm reporting it here to start. Since upgrading to
Ubuntu 16.04, meld hangs for ~25 seconds when launched before it
appears. This happens both with the current version in Xenial
(3.14.2-1) and the latest from upstream git.
I tried to run it with strace, and it actually froze my X UI entirely.
I had to ssh in and kill -9 the strace process, after which everything
started working again. No idea what was going on there.
I ran meld with pdb, but I don't know what I'm doing there, so I wasn't
able to get anything useful. I've attached a backtrace from gdb
interrupted during the hang. I'm not really sure how to debug this
further. Once Meld finally appears, it seems to work just fine.
The symptoms are similar to #1449495, but I don't believe they are the same.
The only console output I get is:
** (meld:1203): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to
connect to socket /tmp/dbus-kWr2u35SkU: Connection refused
This happens immediately after running the command, before it hangs.
Please let me know how I can help to debug this issue further.
