Hi Joseph,

The problem does go away if I revert to the version you suggested. 
Touchpad now working normally.

$ uname -a
Linux gyan 3.19.8-031908ckt17-generic #201603211131 SMP Mon Mar 21 
15:34:07 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
