I suggest you google "upstart desktop fails," "upstart desktop fails to
load," "upstart blank desktop" and look at the 168,000 results (for just
upstart desktop fails). Considering that you can write a graphical shell
that doesn't use upstart, and people have for ages before upstart, and
they will for ages after upstart this still is a valid bug.
