Public bug reported:

This bug report concerns the gwhois shipped with Feisty (which is outdated
according to the upstream maintainer):
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop$ gwhois -v
gwhois - generic whois

program version: 20070217
pattern tables: 20070222 (/etc/gwhois/pattern)

This gwhois fails to resolve any .de domain. The output is as follows:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop$ gwhois datentrampelpfad.de
Process query: 'datentrampelpfad.de'
Querying whois.denic.de:43 with whois.

% 55000000007 Request not clearly specified

To resolve one of the above handles: whois -h whois.denic.de HANDLE
OTOH offical handles should be recognised directly.
Please report errors or misfits via the debian bug tracking system.

Perhaps there are some additional parameters required by the .de whois
servers. I think that upstream has a working version.

** Affects: gwhois (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
