Thanks for reporting this issue.
I've never tried installing unity8-desktop-session-mir on an Ubuntu
Gnome remix. I wonder if we have missed some dependency that is
otherwise seeded on a standard Ubuntu distro.
As a start, could you please attach /var/log/lightdm.log and we will see
if it trying to pick up the unity8 configuration.
