The suggestion in this bug report is wrong for a few reasons:
- Demoting from Depends to Recommends can only be done if the package doesn't
actually need the bits in the first place, this isn't the case here.
- Demoting from Depends to Recommends in Ubuntu doesn't get you anything as
Recommends are installed by default. If something is truly not needed for
operation, it should be demoted to Suggests.
The real fix here is to wait for CRIU upstream to be done transitioning
to python3, then the python2 dependencies can be replaced by python3
ones and everyone will be happy.
