Public bug reported:
3D card: nvidia 8600GTS
primary screen: LG 26LC2R
connection type: HDMI
secondary screen: old CRT
connection type: VGA
-----
Goal: LG as primary screen (preferably the CRT as secondary, but this is not
100% necessary at this time, just trying to get the LG to work)
-----
Problem: in 7.10, I have used the restricted module to install the proper
nvidia drivers, then used nvidia-settings to try and adjust the resolution of
the LG, it will not go above 740x480
I also tried (both before and after a fresh install) to use the ubuntu tools to
try and set the screen correct, this will not work either and had some nasty
side effects.
when i used it after i used nvidia-settings, it would cause xrandr (or
something) to crash everytime i logged on (so i couldn't change the resolution
at runtime) and it stopped compiz/beryl from working. not to mention that it
stretched my screen into strange proportions (i had to actually scroll my
screen to get to the bottom etc)
Short version: I need to get my LG working via HDMI at a reasonable
resolution (also, the top & bottom border were partly cut off in the
above, but i guess that goes hand in hand with the resolution)
