Public bug reported: The module does not load with secure boot, as it seems, because it is not signed.
I have installed this dkms module with the GUI (Additional Drivers), which does not trigger any warning or error. For that reason I did not immediately understand why it wouldn't load. modprobe: ERROR: could not insert '8812au': Required key not available However, when re-installing it manually, I could clearly see the instruction to disable secure boot in order to make it work. sudo apt-get install rtl8812au-dkms This should be a problem for regular end-user with little command line knowledge. ** Affects: rtl8812au (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573743 Title: Module does not load in secure mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rtl8812au/+bug/1573743/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
