Public bug reported:
I installed the latest updates for Ubuntu 7.10 beta this morning (latest
as of 0900 EDT, 04 Oct 07), and then I restarted my X server (because I
noticed that the xorg Intel driver was one of the updates). When I
logged back in, my two gnome-panel's showed up (and I became excited
because I thought that bug was fixed), but then everything else was
completely black! No desktop icons, no background, nothing. I tried
clicking on the desktop, and still nothing. I tried switching
viewports, still nothing.
Finally I performed a "sudo pkill -HUP nautilus", and then "nautilus &"
to restart it, and it worked. I got my icons back, and my background.
I don't want to have to do this every time. Does anyone know what
happened? Possibly the change to the Intel driver in the new update?
