Public bug reported:
Running Feisty Fawn 7.04. I attempted to install virtualbox for amd64.
The package installer hung on install. Now the synaptics manager will
not initialise. I have received the following message when I click on
the update icon;
"Could not initialise the package information
An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package
information.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include
the following error message:
'E:The package virtualbox needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an
archive for it.'"
When attempting to start Synaptic Package Manager from Administration I get the
following error; "
E: The package virtualbox needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive
for it.
E: Internal error opening cache (1). Please report."
I am unable to get updates.
