fair enough and I agree with the pickyness. As noted above, we noticed
that the remote images: URL in <2.0 installs had the 8443 port
specifically defined whereas, a fresh 2.0 install does not. We had to
add the 8443 port ourselves like so:

lxc remote set-url images https://images.linuxcontainers.org:8443

for

 lxc image copy images:ubuntu/xenial/amd64 local: --alias ubuntu-xenial

to even work.

Sadly, this can't be done for the 'built-in' ubuntu: remote(cloud-
images.ubuntu.com). Although, I'll  pull the code-base and rectify that
if you think it's worth it.

Sounds like what you are saying is w/out 8443 in the URL spec, 8443 is
the default for linuxcontainers.org. Our proxy folks, claim that 443 and
8443 are allowed.  It appears in this case our proxy wants the ports
specified. Just a guess.
