This was tested with a Lubuntu 10.04 installation (i386) with the default ruby
package for that distro. Output from "apt-cache policy ruby":
ruby:
Installed: 1:1.9.3.4
Candidate: 1:1.9.3.4

500 http://pt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main i386 Packages

I haven't check whether this affects upstream (ruby-1.9.3), but in that
case I can try to report and propose a patch and see if they accept it.
At the moment I don't have access to a testing environment onto which I
can make a fresh install or run a live DVD, sorry.
