I found a possible bug report that may help us. It specifically
identifies problems with Kernel 4.2 and hard system freeze.

Specifically note comment #11 on that bug report: "I added
"intel_idle.max_cstate=1" to the cmdline in hrub [grub] running kernel
4.4.0-rc6 and got a system freeze after 3 days. Very stable under 4.1.12
for months without any parameters."

So, they don't have crashes with 4.1... but like us, have problems with
newer.
