I found a possible bug report that may help us. It specifically identifies problems with Kernel 4.2 and hard system freeze.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93214 Specifically note comment #11 on that bug report: "I added "intel_idle.max_cstate=1" to the cmdline in hrub [grub] running kernel 4.4.0-rc6 and got a system freeze after 3 days. Very stable under 4.1.12 for months without any parameters." So, they don't have crashes with 4.1... but like us, have problems with newer. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #93214 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93214 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575467 Title: [Dell Inspiron 3451] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 1297 at /build/linux-lts- utopic-vy2yyy/linux-lts- utopic-3.16.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:1743 vlv_wait_port_ready+0x126/0x170 [i915]() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1575467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
