Over 18 months ago (see #35) this was assigned to Iain Lane. Why has
activity stalled?

'lxinput' and/or 'xset' may be workarounds, no doubt of interest to
those few who visit this report. But what about the other 99% of users
who suffer but have no idea how to search Launchpad and find
workarounds? The real benefit of a workaround is that it shows that the
job is technically possible and now needs integrating into the product
that's delivered to the masses.

Being able to adjust mouse sensitivity is especially important for the
elderly and others who suffer from difficulties with motor control. I
teach retired beginners and this kind of accessibility issue can make
the difference between a happy Linux user and a switch to Windows. See
bug #1.

My experience of software development is that if a feature doesn't get
done within 6 months then it NEVER gets done. I hope I'm wrong.
