--- @Sam yeah i agree the W3C push API is the best chance their is at the moment. I'm just not sure how quick adoption would be for email. I think Fastmail is an exception to this as they do some pretty awesome and useful stuff. IIRC I think their push notifications is part of their jmap spec which the fastmail web ui is already using?
