"Edit the file /etc/updatedb.conf and set PRUNEPATHS with the directories you DO NOT want to search." I disabled the /mnt for example because there is a mount-point to a ntfs-device. So, I have now less I/O interactions and, because of the ntfs-driver, less CPU interactions.
