Public bug reported:

Installed Ubuntu 7.04 from Desktop CD on brand new hard drive on IBM
ThinkPad r50e laptop.

Installed fine, created 20GB / partition (/dev/sda1), 98,999MB /home
partition (/dev/sda2), 1028MB Swap partition (/dev/sda3).

Rebooted into new install of Ubuntu, ran through latest updates and
rebooted.

On the next reboot system reported that date on Super Block was
incorrect (in the future), it also reported that the disk hadn't been
checked for about 49710 days and a FSCK was forced.

I let the machine run through the check. Machine rebooted, on second
reboot it did exactly the same.

Reinstalled Ubuntu, got exactly the same thing.

Have checked date on machine, date and time are set correctly.

     Importance: Undecided
