Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
I don't understand how this could have happened. configure-symlinks is
provided by mysql-common, and your log reports that it was installed
before configure-symlinks was reported to not exist. /etc/mysql/conf.d
is also provided by mysql-common and your report says that this is
missing, too.
This makes no sense. Is there something broken about the mysql-common
package on just your system?
I'm not sure that a developer can work on this without steps to
reproduce, so I'm going to mark this bug Incomplete for now. If you can
reproduce this, then please provide steps and then change the bug status
back to New.
** Summary changed:
- package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.12-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade:
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
+ postinst fails: configure-symlinks missing even though mysql-common appears
installed
** Changed in: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete
