Wow. Thanks for the reversion version number -- 09.

Compiled the new binary nasty blob driver and so far no lockups.

Also edited the Python to enable desktop effects.

Thus far, stable with glx!

Hopefully the driver will get resolved with the next version.

To recap -- download the 09 series driver from Nvidia:
amd64 @
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/100.14.09/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.09-pkg2.run
i386 @ http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_100.14.09.html

Get your compiling enabled and install the kernel sources:
sudo aptitude install build-essential linux-source

Restart in your plain mode without X (recovery) and build the blob (failsafe X
is a PITA):
sh ./NVIDIA<...>

And fix your xorg.conf as per your needs. For example:
Section "Module"
   Load "glx"
   Load "GLcore"
   Load "v4l"
EndSection

and change the driver to "nvidia" from whatever.

WFM and will be a decent crutch until NVidia pulls their greymatter
together from the nether regions.
