Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
On Gutsy daily 6/10/7 using LiveCD i386 32bit on my system that has a
single Sony G520 21" Trinitron CRT. A 640x480x61hz display is shown that
prevents a user from operating the live cd install as they cannot access
the nedded buttons and other areas of the GUI to progress the install.
Further, when the user attempts to maximise the install window it does
not maximise and does not fix the problem with not being able to
continue the install.
If a user tries to change screen resolution in the preferences menu no
other screen resolution is shown. If the user tries to fix the problem
with the new screen and graphics option in the administration menu
selecting detect results in a GUI window saying the livecd user has to
log out, and on closing that window, it crashes. Manually trying to set
the monitor as plug and play or a Sony G520 also results in the same GUI
log out notice (which cant be done due to the livecdsession) and
repetable crashes everytime.
Also at 640x480 even though the user is selecting system in the menu
panel, evolution or the Ubuntu help will be shown. The user has to start
at the ubuntu button and move across to the right to actually enter the
system menu at this low resolution.
The net effect of these problems means I am unable to install Ubuntu
using the livecd and am now trying the alternative daily build as a work
around.
