The 4.7-rc1 kernel fails to boot entirely, which occurs very early in
the process. There were a number of messages concerning "address family
not supported" shown, although I didn't pay a great deal of attention
since 4.7-rc2 is already available.

As far as I can see, the 4.7-rc2 kernel behaves exactly the same as
4.6.0... hanging during boot, just after providing the disk decryption
password. Adding the nouveau.modeset=0 parameter via grub seems to
reliably avoid the issue.
