(better) workaround here:
touch /tmp/current_time
sudo find /usr/share/fonts /usr/share/X11/fonts /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d
~/.fonts ~/.fontconfig /usr/local/share/fonts -newer /tmp/current_time -exec
touch {} \;
sudo dpkg --configure --pending
and continue your day as usual.
