Hi Dimitri,

any customer using a zEC12, z13 with zfcp Adaptor connected via FC Switch to
DS8000 any model having uCode Level 7.5 or newer might be affected. V7000
Storage is not affected, AFAICS today.
So, this is quite a big audience.
Considering that the kernel of 14.04/14.04.1 is supported until April 2021, I
think that during this support timeframe customers will definitely hit this
bug. We saw it on various setups here.
Since that problem prevents customers from installing Ubuntu at all
(unblacklisting scsi_dh_alua and rebuilding the initrd is IMO not a "supported
workaround"), our project management might raise severity soon.
So, IMO best idea is to get in touch with the maintainer of scsi_dh_alua to
retrieve some ideas, which of all the patches might be the ones that fix the
problem in 4.4. - if you do not want to apply them all.
Well, finally it's up to you/Canonical.
