Public bug reported:
Unity repeatedly freezes, every few minutes. Symptoms include: window
headers/menus become unresponsive, cannot grab or move windows, etc.
Unity sidebar just comes out and returns, you cannot click on any icons.
Chrome tabs crash when you click on them. Sometimes an application
simply freezes, you can't do anything with it. Sometimes you can click
in a text window in one app, and the text you write appears in a another
app. Symptoms are many and varied! But basically the entire windowing
system doesn't work.
I have tried the following commands: reboot, unity, compiz --replace,
sudo apt-get install --reinstall compiz, sudo apt-get install
--reinstall ubuntu-desktop, unity --debug. These work intermittently,
nothing I have tried works reliably.
Running 16.04 on Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core
Processor Integrated Graphics Controller. I've been running Ubuntu on
this machine with no problem for over a year.
Unity is 7.4.0+16.04.20160526.1-0ubuntu1
