I have the same symptoms on a different laptop (Asus Zenbook UX32VD), and only since 16.04 upgrade.
Some observations: 1) Only seems to affect GTK+ applications. Xterm, Chromium and KDE applications work while e.g. gnome-terminal and gedit are missing characters. 2) I tried "fc-cache -f -r -v" to rebuild font-configs cache, but that didn't help. 3) I found a workaround without reboot: Go to gnome-tweak-tool, open the font change dialog and then select different fonts and adjust the font size slider. The goal is to get a lot of different characters rendering. After you then close the window with "Cancel" the old fonts should reappear. Seems like some kind of in-RAM glyph cache is getting corrupted by suspend. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1582823 Title: Text not rendering correctly after resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1582823/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
