Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm new to launchpad/public ubuntu packaging, so if I appear to have
made any incorrect assumptions, I apologise in advance, and would
appreciate being corrected.

As suggested here:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chuck/+question/295113
I'm opening a version update request for the chuck package. See related Debian
package update request here:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=775341

We're several version numbers behind upstream across all distros
repositories, and because of that we're missing out on a variety of new
features and critical bugfixes. The changelog is available here:
http://chuck.stanford.edu/release/VERSIONS, relevant highlights from
1.2.0.8 (current packaged version) to 1.3.5.2 (current upstream version)
include:

* The UAnae feature, as well as many UAnae
* New primitive data types
* Dynamic arrays
* Many fixes and additions to the standard library
* Support for file IO
* Support for serial IO
* Improved support for OSC
* Midi file parsing support
* Greatly improved string manipulation functions
* Support for Plugins (ChuGins)
* 64 bit support
* PulseAudio support
* Many other critical bugfixes and improvements

I realise this isn't likely to be a widely used package, but for the few
who do use it, it'd be really very nice if it were up to date.
Unfortunately the changelog doesn't contain release dates, but the
publications related to UAnae were in 2007:
http://smirk.cs.princeton.edu/WangFiebrinkCook_ICMC2007.pdf

Would this upgrade be dependent on resolving the equivalent Debian
package request 775341?

Looking forward to hearing back,

Best regards,

Hugh Rawlinson
