Public bug reported: I use a BCM43228 card in my laptop. I installed the broadcom-sta package from the repos and ended up with no wifi at all.
The day before I used it under Fedora 23, which uses the latest version of the driver: https://www.broadcom.com/docs/linux_sta/hybrid-v35_64 -nodebug-pcoem-6_30_223_271.tar.gz So I removed the ubuntu package, downloaded the sources from broadcom, compiled it myself, installed it and loaded the module. But still no wifi. I checked the Fedora 23 sources and saw that they applied a patch for kernel versions >= 4.3, which you can find here: https://github.com/rpmfusion/wl-kmod/blob/master/wl-kmod- 004_kernel_4.3_rdtscl_to_rdtsc.patch I applied the patch, recompiled, reinstalled, reloaded and now it works. Please add the patch to the ubuntu package. ** Affects: broadcom-sta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: xenial ** Tags added: xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591296 Title: Broadcom STA not working (at least BCM43228) without patch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/broadcom-sta/+bug/1591296/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
