Felix, '99-XXX.rules' file used to work for me on lt4120 and HP EliteBook 840 G3 few weeks ago on 16.04LTS. Unfortunatelly, it does not work now. I have absolutely no idea what has changed. (mmcli -L finds my modem, however, I am unable to communicate with it. mmcli -L shows "unknown modem").
