Public bug reported:

Systems:  multiple, example below is on Ubuntu Wily. This also happens on 
Xenial.
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:    Ubuntu 15.10
Release:        15.10
$ 

Trusty uses lshw B.02.16 and does not see this bug.


lshw facility does not report all the system information in the current version 
(B.02.17) :
$ sudo lshw -version
B.02.17
$ sudo lshw -class system
virgil                    
    description: Computer
    width: 64 bits
    capabilities: smbios-2.7 vsyscall32
$ 

Version B.02.16 displays product, vendor, version, etc.  
Compiling and running the new version (B.02.18) also displays all the 
information :
$ sudo ./lshw-static -class system
virgil                      
    description: Laptop
    product: Latitude E7440 (Latitude E7440)
    vendor: Dell Inc.
    version: 01
    serial: *******
    width: 4294967295 bits
    capabilities: smbios-2.7 dmi-2.7 smp vsyscall32
    configuration: administrator_password=disabled boot=normal chassis=laptop 
frontpanel_password=disabled keyboard_password=disabled 
power-on_password=disabled sku=Latitude E7440 uuid=**************************
$
