Pidgin is definitely stable to be Ubuntu's default IM client. Other
distros are using it as default as well. The problem is not about its
stability than it is about its interaction (as well as other programs)
with compiz when it is busy. I don't know where to lead you with this
bug but I recommend you change the description and title. It also might
be wise to change it to (or add) the compiz package.
