Why not fixing the suspend issue in the first place? Also have you tried using a mouse instead of the track pad?
Because in these eight years using Ubuntu as my only operating system, I don't remember having clicked on suspend by accident. On the other hand I usually see people struggling to click on things because of using the track pad instead.
