Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

With gutsy as of 7th October 2007.

* With metacity

1. Open a file in gedit (from nautilus or terminal)
2. Change workspace
3. Open a different file in gedit

Result: I get 2 gedit windows, one on each workspace (but in the same
process).

* With compiz

1. Open a file in gedit (from nautilus or terminal)
2. Change workspace
3. Open a different file in gedit

Result: Compiz flicks me back to the original window and opens the 2nd
file as a new tab.

One can work around this by "dragging the tab out" of the gedit window
and moving the window manually but it is qute annoying.
