Please check the output with deactivated "quiet splash". I've got the same problem since several weeks, but today I had time to analyze the problem. I've deactivated "quiet splash" and have seen that the computer freezes while loading the IDE/UDMA133 drivers, then I detached my IDE drives - finally ubuntu boots like charm.
