Hi,
I've recently had to use a live-CD to rescue my LVMs from some evil
corruption. (Yes, I have backups, but believe me, I'd rather spend four
hours fixing my LVM than to move 1TB over the network! :-) ) As part of
that, I frequently need to install packages like evms, mdadm or lvm2
into the running live-CD session.
Each and every one of these think it's a good idea to update the
initramfs. I really don't, given that it'll be dead and gone the next
time I boot anyway. It's probably not harmful, but it's a source of
irritation and waste of time, especially given that we don't have dpkg
triggers yet, so it runs once for every package :-)
