The problem I get using Gutsy AMD64 2.6.22-13 nVidia 7300GS

In System>Preferences>Appearance, if you choose the Visual Effects tab
and try say normal, then you are told that to run these you need the
accelerated graphics driver for nvidia. If you choose Enable Driver,
then you are advised that the driver will change on boot up.

However, at boot up, a set up screen appears. Two nVidia drivers are offered.
nv and NVIDIA. The NVIDIA driver is the 'accelerated' one.
If you choose NVIDIA then continue you are returned to a terminal, that slowly
blinks three times and takes you back to the graphics card set up window. You
can repeat this cycle for as long as you like.

The set window is Ubuntu and Ubuntu should fix it, not say that it is
the driver. nVidia drivers work, generally. But to stand a chance they
need to be loaded!

Gutsy is showing great promise by the way, I wish you success. Bill's
boots must be trembling by now!

Regards
Bob
