Public bug reported:

You can verify that by opening lxterminal and typing alsamixergui
[Enter]. Pulseaudio is selected instead of the default card 0. I have
package version 0.9.0rc2-1-9.1 of alsamixergui installed (running under
Lubuntu 16.04 LTS from /usr/bin/alsamixergui). A possible countermeasure
is to start the program with alsamixergui -c 0 [Enter]. But this doesn't
help if alsamixergui is used in context of another program (e.g. the
lxpanel sound applet) and you don't know where to change the command.
BTW: alsamixer does everything right. So I am surprised that
alsamixergui is acting differently.
