The main complaint seems to be that Gnome Software doesn't show all
packages. This is a design choice. Only GUI apps with .desktop files are
meant to be shown. This has been brought up before, so I have marked
this as a duplicate.

The two bugs for missing size and version info were fixed in bug
#1564621 and bug #1571414

The two remaining issues are:

Bug #1551599 - Remove button missing after package installation
Bug #1574057 - Can not abort installation

   Ubuntu should provide a default graphical method to install technical 
packages (plugins, kernels, terminal apps)
