Public bug reported:
* launch Ubuntu Cloud Image ami-6829ad7f on Amazon AWS (4.4.0-28-generic
#47-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 24 10:09:13 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
* login and check the /var/lib/cloud folder - all is ok, the
/var/lib/cloud/instance is linked to actual instance metadata, i.e.
instance -> /var/lib/cloud/instances/<instance-id>
* install docker.io (version is 1.10.3-0ubuntu6) >> The following NEW packages
will be installed:
bridge-utils cgroupfs-mount docker.io ubuntu-fan (so I guess it could be one
of those packages).
* reboot
* login and again check the /var/lib/cloud folder - now cloud init
clearly has failed to get instance metadata
