Argh. My problem is seemingly different. I rebooted in Feisty kernel and discovered that ESSID scanning didn't work either. It used to work before Gutsy upgrade (and I used fwcutter with Feisty). I suspect this has something to do with updated bcm43xx- fwcutter and with enabling it via the Restricted Driver Manager. Should I open a new bug on that?
