Hrm, that seems sort of surprising as my package would have done that. It's purely a drop-in replacement for the intel X video driver. You rebooted after installation (or restarted X)? Non-responsive in what sense? Your system hung/crashed? Can you confirm that ppa-purge'ing my PPA results in your system working?
