Public bug reported:

It is pretty pathetic that at this point, we can still not create
links/shortcuts on desktops for files & folders--a basic & very useful
utility that has been available in Windows for decades... so sick of
filing bugs about PCManFM!

1) Cannot CTRL-SHIFT-DRAG to create link directly on desktop... you have
to do it to the desktop folder instead. Difficult for newbies.

2) Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Sometimes it works for
some folders but not others.

3) THE LINKS NEVER WORK. When you click on the link created, it prompts
you for what program to use for symbolic links. The problem is that
symbolic links are not always to the same type of files (.txt, .abw,
.png) and need different programs to open each. I will you the program
you choose for every symbolic links after and mess up your system.

HOWEVER, links created in terminal using the command ln -s -t (e.g. ln -s
-t ~/Desktop ~/Downloads/5.txt to create a link for 5.txt in ~/Downloads on
~/Desktop) DO NOT HAVE THAT MIMETYPE PROBLEM and open readily when clicked.
This is your solution.

Please fix A.S.A.P., you have a simple solution.

Thanks.
