Well, I see that the version of java you were trying to install was Java
"6" as I call it, and I just have to ask, why not try a newer version of
java? You could try this: sudo apt-get update or what is appears you did
in the terminal, 'sudo' apt-get upgrade .

'' : not actually shown (and don't use in terminal for this command.)

I am only throwing out suggestions, but you might need to get help from
someone who knows more than me. I am new to ubuntu, but I have used it
in the past, but try this, and let us know what happens.
