Public bug reported:

The installer crashed when I tried to install Ubuntu 14.04.4 on an USB-3.0
stick using virtual-box 5.024 under host & guest Ubuntu 14.04.4. Installation
source was ubuntu-14.04.4-desktop-amd64.iso as the mass storage for VB.
Access to log-files is impossible because I started the installation from
source and not using "trial Ubuntu".
The USB-3.0 stick was connected to a PCIe Express controller-card CSL- 4-port
USB 3.0 (Super Speed). This card is not (!) bootable.
