This bug also may interfere with power management logic (mate-power-management). I set the session idle timeout to 1 minute (+blank screen instead a screensaver), display sleep timeout to 1 minute and computer sleep timeout to 10 minutes. (Note: I'm using a desktop machine, so battery events / power source states do not interfere.) Using Marco+Compton, the fade+reawaken glitch described above can be seen after 1:00. Then after 2:00 and 11:00 minutes, nothing happens. Using Compiz, the blank screen kicks in at 1:00, then the screen sleep at 2:00, then the computer sleep at 11:00, just as it should in the other case.
