First off, sorry if this comment is redundant. I cannot say for sure whether the issue happened after an update. I run apt-get upgrade very often and thus cannot peg it down to an update. I have definitely not upgraded (dist-upgrade) my Ubuntu version.
I will give the latest kernel a shot, but, I have no way to 100% reproduce this bug every time.
