I would fix it in a very short term delta in Yakkety if necessary, then SRU the whole thing. Or wait - depending on the urgency of the SRU. For the SRU, it doesn't so much matter if the fix doesn't exactly match Debian's fix, since it's a branch we have to maintain separately from Debian anyway. For Yakkety, we'd be able to resync very soon.
