Can you speak a little bit more to your startup process?
Are you using ubuntu-mythtv-frontend, or mythbuntu, or your own rolled
automatic login setup?
Recently lirc had to be moved to later in the startup process to fix
some items related to ALSA startup order, so moving it earlier would
likely break that.
