Public bug reported: Tried to configure 5.1 surround on my Ubuntu system and I was unsuccessful after reading about 20 articles and 10 videos. I reached out to the #alsa channel and was fortunate enough to run across a very Knowledgeable user by the Debianuser. After several attempts in changing files the system sounds clear and all audio test work perfectly. I couldn't load the hda jack reset app on my system not sure if it had to do with my release 12.04.5 but we ended up inputting the data manually. \
